Those dirty little beggars have returned! The first round they were only on the pantry floor. Of course we don't want them in the house period, so we set traps and caught four and haven't caught any since. But really it is just part of country life and is no big deal. It happens. Well, it really shouldn't happen in my opinion with 4 cats and 2 dogs around and this is the first time it has happened since we have lived here...but I digress.
This time they ***GASP*** left evidence in my SILVERWARE DRAWER!!!! My silverware drawer. Where we keep our silverware. You know, the stuff that we eat off of? That my KIDS eat off of? That we use to put food in our mouths? How dare they!
Oh, they have gone too far this time and it is ON! Either exit the premises and remain outside the castle walls or face the consequences. That is the only warning I will give you little meeses. The troops, I mean traps are armed and waiting. Heed it or else.
Gotta go now...I have a date with a bottle of bleach.

oh jennifer i soo remember growing up in the country and our yearly battles with the mice! my friend valerie lives next to a couple of grain elevators and is constantly waging war also against the invading mousie troops! you are right it isn't unexpected but your invading army has thrown down the guantlet with the silverware drawer!lol if i can think of anything helpful i will let you know! good luck! oh, and have you ever seen the series of books set in Redwall, about this abbey of mice? if not you need to google it. the stories are awesome for grownups as well as children!big hugs and i am pulling for you!lol big hugs :) oh, and maybe don't let the cats have free access to their food bowls. if you don't already only feed them in the morning and at nite. not only is it healthier for them, it might make them more interested in a snack!;)
ReplyDeletedid a quick web search before on natural mice repellents and found this lovely link to share with you jennifer! another great reason to grow the lovely herb peppermint! lol hugs:)

wish blogger offered a toolbar on these posts so i could have hyperlinked that link! lol
Leslie, I'll have to look for those books at the library. :) We are bad about keeping the cats bowls full. I think we need some barn cats that are strictly barn cats. My hubby said there have always been some here, but I tend to make everything a pet. :) LOL And thanks for the herbal ideas! Herbs are so helpful. And cheap! (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteewwwwwwww gross. That is way going too far!!!! Keep the silverware locked in the dishwasher until you win this battle. I agree. Take the food away. No wet at all. 1/4 cup dry in the morning and at night. period. And don't forget to leave all the cabinet doors and drawers open so there is no place to hide from hungry kitties. Your kitties will hate you only for a little while. Remember no poison or you might lose a kittie or dog by eating a mousie with a full tummy of it.
ReplyDeleteps...I cheat until my garden gets going. Lean Cuisine has a new line of amazing frozen dinners...butternut squash ravioli is one of them...heated up and then poured over a wonderful salad....yes on top of the salad....it is sooo yummy.
Lol okay so I'm not the only one. How do you think I felt when mice were staring at me from the vent on my brand new stove!! They were living in there for months and would watch me doing dishes. I even let the cat on the counter to better hunt them. He got all the babies one by one but never did get the mama. I too have found the evidence in my dishes. I knew country life was challenging but I honestly never thought I'd get to the point where I just rinsed the dish and didn't freak out about it. Good luck!
