I Need Your Input...My Patio Swing Needs Desperate Help!

My patio swing is only a couple of years old, but the fabric is already worn and tearing. Has anyone ever remade the cushions and canopy for a patio swing? Any ideas on what is the best place to get the outdoor fabric? Can it be sewn on a regular machine? Please, help! :)

  1. I have never attempted to recover an outdoor swing set. I have seen outdoor fabric at Hancocks fabrics, other fabric stores probably carry it, too. Your machine should be able to sew the outdoor fabric, I would change the needle to a heavy duty one, though. Hope this helped a little bit... good luck.

  3. Try thrift stores for fabric, sometimes I find some very nice stuff for sewing that way. They may also have curtains that you could transform, or whatever.

And whether it can be sewn on your machine depends on your machine and the fabric. But if you have a standard machine and you don't get too crazy on fabric weight, it should be fine.

The most challenging part would be if you wanted piping, which some outdoor furniture has. I've not done it, and it looks like it would be challenging, but I don't really know.

I have found you can find directions online for just about anything. I thank God for the generosity of people who share in video form how they do things!

Don't forget Hobby Lobby. They have 40 percent off coupons you can print off from their website, so you can get a good deal on some outdoor vinyl-type fabric on those rolls. Nice to wipe off.

Fun project! You'll learn lots. :o)
