My Nemesis....The Laundry.....

Yes, that again. The laundry. I am drowning in dirty laundry. Actually I am drowning in clean laundry too. Yesterday I tried really hard to get it caught up and our bed was covered in clean laundry. Clean laundry that I never got back to because I got sidetracked. So what did hubby do when it was bed time and our bed was covered? You guessed it...it is in a pile on our bedroom floor. God bless him, I would have done the same thing. We are all exhausted by bedtime. My oldest dug through it this morning for socks. I dug through it to find a shirt for my youngest. I am officially in a laundry state of emergency. Someone send help! Yes, I should be doing laundry instead of blogging. I know this. But I look at the laundry and I get overwhelmed. Clean laundry, dirty laundry, clothes that need to get culled and donated, clothes that need to get packed away for next fall, clothes, clothes, clothes, clothes, clothes, clothes, clothes...laundry, laundry, laundry, laundry, laundry, laundry.

And then....I walk away.

Yes, I know, that only make the problem worse.

I'll get it caught up. I will. I swear. I WILL!

Just not right now. I have a zillion things to do. Like blog. Just kidding! Like take a bath. Pick youngest up from school. Go back to school to eat lunch with middle. Go to town to get groceries. Clean the duck house. Stare at the garden and see if the seeds are sprouting yet. Stare at the garden some more. Fix dinner. Go back to school this evening for middle's graduation. And on and on life goes....

Life is good. :)

Laundry is bad. Just kidding! :) It isn't bad...it is just challenging. I'm laundry challenged.

  1. oh i HATE laundry too! i had to do a ton of it yesterday (including a peed bed) and it rained all day long...so wasted energy in the dryer (though i hate hanging little kid clothes out--all million pieces--secretly i was happy for the rain in a shameful, anti-green way)
laundry might be my least favorite household duty...i'm pretty sure it is
i rather like the dirty stuff...it's the clean stuff...the folding, sorting, putting away
    yuck!!
i'm with ya--your blog brought a level of stress to me even though mine is done! (for a day anyhow)

enjoy the kids--go stare at the garden--blog--eventually the pile will get rooted through and be gone :)

hey--off topic--what age did you move your ducks outside with no lamps? mine are 3 weeks old with some feathers starting to sprout...but i still have them under a high heat lamp...75-ish degrees

  2. Mount Laundry is a common site in our house when life goes postal. Just try to do 5-10 minutes every time you go past it or think about it and put away the ones you've done. Erosion works :-) (This is from a person who got up an hour early today to fold laundry...)

  3. Tbsomeday...We should start a laundry haters club. ;) I can't remember exactly how old they were, maybe 3 or 4 weeks, but I was still turing the lamp on at night with them in the coop and they weren't using it. I was going to let it run a little longer at night just in case but the bulb burned out, so I didn't replace it and they have been fine. I would say let your ducks be the guide. Are they still using it?

Holly, I try not to walk past it for that very same reason. :) LOL But I am all for the erosion theory! It seems like I go through this every so often. I get it caught up, keep it caught up for a while, and them life just gets busy and the next thing I know it is out of control. BTW, I am giving you a Saint award...you got up early to fold laundry! If you ask me, that is amazing! :)

  4. Tbsomeday...I forgot to say that as green as I'd like to be...I am pretty sure I would be a fan of disposable clothing. Wear and toss. That is how much I dislike laundry. Bad bad bad, I know! :) Terrible. Alas, I do have some going and it is sunny and I have a couple of hours so I am going to use the clothes line.

  5. LMAO...my favorite part was you have better things to do. Like blog. Until I got to the part about staring at the garden. Lol.

I stare at my seedlings so long, hubby still swears I'm in there talking to them. I go to unplug their light at night and stare at them so long that I get back in bed without unplugging it. He's not very sympathetic when I turn to him and ask if maybe he could get up and unplug it for me.

My laundry got the better of me this week too. I haven't used the dryer in so long, partially because an ink pen exploded in it and I'm not sure how to clean it, and partially to save energy. Well it doesn't save energy when noone hangs the clothes up to dry and you have to rewash 2 loads to avoid the mildew smell. (sigh) So anyway, I feel your pain. Good luck!

  6. I must be the odd apple in the barrel, cause I like laundry! (Cringing!) There is something therapeutic about it to me, the clanking zippers in he dryer, the smells, I even like ironing. Let me just interject here that it is just me and my husband though. I would imagine a houseful of chitlins would make a big difference!

Come out with 3 Large trash bags of clothes and still have more Laundry!! I would eb a fan of wearking the smae thing everyday Except we tend to get a little dirty here on the farm!!lol
But I have a huge pile of LAundry on the couch that needs to be folded and some that needs to be washed....... If I only had more time.. The only thing I dislike more then laundry is Dishes Even with a dish washer!!

  9. I hate laundry too. I'm great about sorting and washing, but then it just sits in baskets until I get fed up with having to dig through to find underwear. I've been trying to fold laundry every Wednesday. I take all of my baskets and dump them on the living room floor. This kids pretend to fish, swim and sleep in the pile. I can get most of it folded quickly and then it sits in baskets for another week. Sigh.
